I am a RIBA Part II Graduate, with over 14 months of experience working for Churchill Hui based in London, and Holder Mathias Architects in both their London and Cardiff Offices. I have undetaken a range of design briefs, technology reports and professional studies, in both my academic studies and professional career. I am now looking to continue my career in full time employment as a Part II Architectural Assistant.

During the Masters course I have been interested in how the end functionality of the design works. How the spaces will be adapted by the occupants that use them and sometimes unimagined alternatives and how these may be incorporated in the initial design.

2012 - 2013 (September - June)

Churchill Hui, London - Architectural Assistant

Churchill Hui is a small multi disciplinary company that specialises in residential schemes for Housing Associations, Local Authorities and occasional private clients in the South East of England and Shropshire. I worked on projects ranging from single dwellings to large housing developments. As part of a team of four, I worked  on schemes from feasibility studies up-to and including planning. Within this team I had the opportunity to design a number of varying sized schemes, produce Design & Access statements and competition boards, attend client meetings where I took an active role presenting work produced. I also got chance to hold a public  consultation for one of the projects I worked on. Working in this small team of four I got to understand the processes of, procuring work, client liaising and how a multidisciplinary company is structured.

2011 (June - August)

Holder Mathias Architects, London - Junior Architects Assistant

Working in the smaller, London office for Holder Mathias, I was able to see how a multi office company works and is structured, with the main directors commuting between the Cardiff and London offices. Whist there I worked on projects at various stages and sectors, this included: retail parks and designer outlets in Europe and Malaysia, housing developments and commercial properties in the UK and a velodrome in Turkmenistan for the Asian Games. As part of my role as well as CAD, I was often set the task of research into the feasibility of projects, compiling the information into presentations and booklets.

2008 (September - November)

Holder Mathias Architects, Cardiff - Junior Architects Assistant

Working at Holder Mathias Architects, head office, before undertaking my undergraduate studies was beneficial as I gained an insight into the professional attitudes of the industry. Within this role I was able to pick up basic skills using Photoshop and AutoCad that benefited my further studies. I got to go on a number of site visits, where I was engaging with clients or planning officials or surveying built works.  I was able to gain experience working within a team environment and understand the requirements that this entails.
